Welcome to Girlguiding Newcastle

Girlguiding Newcastle upon Tyne county was established in April 1973, after boundaries were aligned to the new Local Government Boundaries. The first county commissioner was Irene Glendinning.

Today, Girlguiding in Newcastle upon Tyne remains as strong, with over 850 girls from the ages of 4 to 14 enjoying the current Girlguiding programme and showing that girls can do anything. These girls are supported by nearly 220 volunteers across the county, running weekly meetings and ensuring girls in Newcastle are provided with a girl only safe space in which they can have fun, an adventure and discover their potential.

Our current county commissioner is Helen Thompson.

If it’s not fun, it’s not Guiding!
