Girls and leaders from across the North East gathered together on the Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside as Girlguiding UK's tall ship STS Lord Nelson visited the Tyne.  The ship is on a voyage around Britain to mark the Centenary and is sailed by girls and young women of all ages.

To celebrate the visit, local Girlguiding members took over the Quayside and the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, enjoying boat trips along the river, craft activities and street performances. Some Guides even took part in a sleepover on the tall ship itself!

Girlguiding Newcastle members from across the city continued to celebrate the Centenary with a County camp at Netherurd House in Peebleshire. Girls and leaders all had a fantastic time trying new things and meeting new friends. Activities on offer over the weekend included mountain-biking, canoeing, archery, rope courses and drumming workshops. The fun continued into the evening with campfires, ceilidhs and a puppet show for everyone to enjoy.

To finish off the celebrations, everyone took part in a Grand Parade through the grounds to the house in customised costumes! It was a wonderful celebration of all Girlguiding has to offer and a huge thanks goes to the team  of volunteers who organised the camp.
