300 Brownies from all over Newcastle took over Tanfield Railway on Saturday 24th April as part of Girlguiding’s Centenary Celebrations.

The girls enjoyed a variety of challenges, games and crafts at each stop on the line as they journeyed along a day of activity and adventure.  Parachute games, face-painting quizzes and a souvenir challenge booklet added to the fun.

Organiser Dawn Potter said “Girlguiding aims to give every member a special celebration; a moment by which they will always remember our Centenary year.  A day full of fun and steam trains was full of amazing memories for the girls to take home”.

Tanfield Railway is the world’s oldest rail line and like Girlguiding Newcastle, is run entirely by volunteers making the railway a perfect partner to help the girls celebrate Girlguiding’s Centenary.
